Are Hot Chicks Bad For Your Health?

Can hot chicks really be bad for your health? Let’s find out by reviewing Cortisol, and its effects.

Cortisol is a hormone produced by the male body — most often during times of stress or apprehension.  The effects of this hormone are a large part of the reason why stress is bad for you.  Excessive Cortisol production has been tied to a wide array of adverse effects including high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and even increased incidence of impotence.  There are obvious instances where it is unavoidable that your body produce Cortisol — a good example would be as a consequence of combat.  Another prominent cause of stress resulting in increased Cortisol production is the workplace.  These days, some workplaces surely can be almost as stressful as actual combat.

However, there are other more surprising scenarios which spur significant Cortisol production.  A recent university study sought to explore this.  They created a controlled experiment where two men were put in a room with a nice elderly lady.  No effects on Cortisol ensued.  One of the men then left the room.  Cortisol levels for the man left in the room alone with the lady were unaffected.  Then, the researchers switched things up a bit.  Instead of an older lady, they put a totally hot chick (one wonders how they went about recruiting her) in the room.  When two men were in the room with her, then neither men experienced increased Cortisol production.  However, when one man left the room, then the other’s Cortisol shot through the roof.

Researchers theorized that once left alone in a room with a hot chick, the natural male response is to start pondering whether she is obtainable.  This brings the male system into “sex combat” mode in pursuit of the “kill”.  The study was able to show that Cortisol production peaks when a man is in this mode.  What is the lesson to be learned here?  Obviously, men can not eliminate hitting on h0t chicks from their routine — that is far too great a sacrifice.  When going about it, just try to chill (and bring your wingman with you).
